The Summer holiday is almost here! And that means it’s also time for summer sale madness, and time to update your wardrobe a little before hopping on that plane to somewhere sunny!
Here are 6 Tips for shopping sales!
#1. Make a List! Go and check out the shops of your choice online first and make a must have list. This way you can make a solid list of classics, musthaves or seasonal musthaves and you’ll prepare yourself enough to avoid an emotional purchase that will end up in the back of your closet, never to be worn.
#2. Spending limit. Yes! I know, it’s hard, especially when it comes to the sale rounds that go on forever. When you set a budget, you’ll think more clearly whether it’s an item you really need. This can also mean spending 100 euros on one amazing item or spreading those funds over several new pieces to add to your wardrobe. For me, it means waiting to see if a jacket’s price will go down after a few weeks, which can be the case at shops like Zara. It can also mean the jacket will be sold out before I can get my hands on it. But at least I’ll avoid buying something that will be priced down another 50% a week later…
#4. There’s a reason why you might see the same item at several shops with a 70 per cent discount: it means that it didn’t sell well, be it an unflattering fit or bad fabric. So just try them on at the shop and really check out the label and fabric carefully.
#5. Refunding: Some sales don’t refund your money back, but only give a giftcard. In some cases you can only return an item if you buy something else for the same price.
#6.Don’t panic or feel rushed. It’s easy to get all excited and thrilled when sale starts, but just take your time with each and every purchase you make, whether it’s online or at a shop. Just make other round in the shop and fit your items, and go over your list. Or in case of online shopping: have a tea break before you click that ‘purchase’ button!
